Cute Elephant Thing

A few months ago a dear friend of mine Peter Fillerup found this really cool elephant thing at his house and his mom was going to sell it .... but he asked if I wanted it, and of course I did :) so he gave it to me.

When I got it, it was a bluish color and had dirt and bird poop all over it. It sat on my desk for a while then I washed it, a few weeks later I got the silver spray paint out.... and voila .. :) so nice ... I kind of want to use it for my wedding reception (when it happens) just add flowers and it is sooooo cute :)

More Flowers

This zebra flower is made from 20 or so circles of fabric "smooshed" and glued onto a circle of felt, with a square jewel in the middle
The White flower with the gold ball in the middle is made from silk flowers that i found on clearance at Joann. I took two small white flowers and layered them on top of each other, then glued a gold sparkley ball on top.
This flower was made from a scrap of ribbon. i sewed the ends together to make a loop. After, I loosely basted one side of the ribbon to form the ribbon yo-yo. I used a jewel brad for the middle. And a magnet on the back to attach to bobbie pins.
I found a pattern for this crocheted flower, but i don't remember where. the middle of this flower is a black bead with a piece of tied yarn in the hole.
this last flower is special to me. The lace i used for this flower was also used to make my mom's wedding dress. I was looking though some old fabric and found this, it was extra so i got lucky :)
it was made from folding the long rectangular fabric in half (hot-dog style) and sewing the two ends together, bunching it together and randomly forming it into a bunched mound.

These flowers i made last year for my friend Mariah's birthday present. the black one and the purple/silver one are made in the same way. Circles cut from satin fabric, and the edges burnt.

The pink, purple, and green ones were also made in similar fashion. Cut apx 25 circles of the color desired. Then on the wrong side of the fabric put a dot of hot glue. then you proceed to "smoosh" the fabric so it creates a little "poof". After you have smoosed all the circles you want you cut a circle of harder fabric (i used Jeans) about half the size that you want the end flower. You start on the outside circle, hot glue the poofs around in a circle, then do a 2nd, third, and sometimes a 4th row on top of that. and it should give you a nice half circle, poofy flower. :D
These are flowers i made for my friend Katie Alston, for her graduation present. The white one is 3 rosette flowers put together with a clip on the back.
The purple one is ribbon folded into petals. Then the middle is pearls glued into a flower button.

The gold flower is made from gold satin fabric cut into circles progressively getting bigger. In the middle is a button from SAS fabric. The pink flower is a cut out of material, with tulle out of the back.
I love this flower, I got this silver fabric on sale at Joann. They way i made it is you cut circles in growing sizes till you get one as big as you want your flower. then you cut notches around the outside, some had 8 notches some only had 4 and everywhere in between.
Then you use a candle and melt all the edges. It will curl up and look like a petal. then you just hot glue each one on top of the other and put a jewel on top. Lastly glue a clip on the bottom and you are ready to go :)
